Omschrijving
Rechte bodem, trapezoïde voetring, gedrukt bolle wand, recht verjongende liprand. Op de buik ingezet c-vormig oor en rechts, kegelvormige, schuin staande tuit. Deksel: recht verjongende sluitring, convex bovenvlak, gedrukt bolle knop. Porselein met licht groengrijs getint glazuur, ongecraqueleerd. Ongeglazuurd zijn: onderkant voetring, boven- en binnenkant liprand, sluitring en onderkant deksel.
Versiering: geappliqueerd onder het glazuur. Wand: tweemaal een bloeiende prunustak. Om de dekselknop een dubbele rozet.
A similar pot with a different handle is illustrated by S. Marchant, 'Blanc de Chine' (1985), fig. 51, there dated 1640.
Blanc de Chine tea pots of this type were shipped in relatively large quantities to Europe, where a great need had been created for all kinds of porcelain by the breakthrough of tea to become a popular stimulant in general use. It may be noted that the same form is also found in Yixing tea pots, so that it is not always certain that the red Delft tea pots go back only to Yixing models. They could have been derived from Blanc de Chine models too.
